Memories of Christmas Dinners Past

Remember When? What are some of the Christmases that you guys remember the most? The one Christmas/Mom's Birthday I remember the best was the time that Mom had this HUGE... It seemed huge to me anyway..present under the tree and how that Grannie and Papa kept on teasing her with it, then of course we all joined in on the fun... I didn't know what could possibly be in that big ole box? It was heavy!!! And Mom couldn't imagine what it could be either... Seems like it was there forever!! Back in the day when we all thought Christmas would never come!!! Remember??? Once we were out of school for Christmas break it still felt like it would be a YEAR before Christmas would finally come!! So the present was all the talk... what could it be?? There were guesses and smiles.... Then finally the day came... I was almost as excited about Mom's big present as I was about my own gifts...LOL!!! She tore into that box with all of us looking on...Cheering her on as if it was an athletic event!!! It was full of paper... she was throwing paper to left, to the right, over her shoulder!!!! It was an athletic event!!! HA ! And then...She found COMET!!! Remember all the cans of comet? In my child's mind it seemed like there were a hundred of cans of comet in that box!! Grannie had packed it full of comet, so it would be heavy!!! Clever woman Grannie!! We were all standing there with our mouths open and smiling and laughing.... then finally Mom got to the bottom of the box and in one of the far corners was a tiny box that, I think contained a pretty watch!!! Isn't that funny I remember everything so clearly in my child's mind but the actual gift? It was the excitement and the fun that I remember the most!!! Merry Christmas!!!! I also remember when Mom and Grannie would sit up on Christmas Eve and we were sure they were gonna scare off Santa!!! LOL!!! Christmas is for kids!! If we can all just keep our child like enthusiasm how much more we could enjoy Christmas again!!! I know kids don't have to buy the presents and cook the food... but we can still try... and we can certainly enjoy the kids in our family in the meantime...We are blessed with a great bunch of kiddos!!
Vicki don't worry I bet we will have tons of food!!! We always have to much food and then nobody wants to take it back home with them!!! LOL I'll bring something sweet to eat.... YIKES!!
